North Nottinghamshire College, Doncaster College, and Craven College have jointly been granted interim status as a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Airport Operations and Aircraft Engineering. This accolade has been awarded by the Government’s National Learning and Skills Council. Dedicated training centres at both airports, with state of the art aircraft maintenance facilities, will give learners and employers access to industry-standard training, opening up cutting edge aviation career and business opportunities across the world.

On behalf of the partners, Philip Fone, Principal of North Nottinghamshire College said, “This project is a major step forward in providing the vocational training programmes needed to ensure prosperous thriving airports in our region.”

The North Yorkshire CoVE Network has been developed by Yorkshire Forward and the Learning and Skills Council North Yorkshire, under the York and North Yorkshire 2003-2006 Sub Regional Action Plan. The aim of the Network is to raise awareness of the CoVE scheme, to dispel the myths about training and therefore encourage employers to engage with the 10 CoVEs in North Yorkshire.
